She Dances Among the Shadows Now

The darkness rises within
Taking over everything else
The rage builds
Causing gentle hands to smash into stone
A deal she made long ago
Now rises to haunt her
A choice made early in her life
A secret of her soul
A fight she seems to be losing
An argument she just can't win
Long walks barefoot
Result only in more glass
A dreamer no longer able to dream
A witch no longer able to cast
A caring soul who laughed
Now hiding within herself

She dances among the shadows now
Mourning all she has lost
The power within fizzled out
Ripped from her very soul
She dances among the shadows now
Afraid to face the light
The light which she has struggled to live in forever
Now seems to be out of her reach
She dances among the shadows now
Tears frozen into ice daggers
Watching herself fade away
As another seeks to take her place

She remembers before
When all she had to do was call
And those who cared would hear her
And come to where she stood alone
But now the wind tosses her words
Back into her burning eyes
She can't see that which was part of herself
And is scared to try to seek the help she needs
Always one who wanted to stand on her own
Now feels that strength slowly fading
Seeping away into the possession
Of a darker soul than she expected

A witch without a spell
The totem she clang to all of her life
Now vanished without a trace
She dances among the shadows now
A singer without a song
The voice she called things forth to her
No longer holds that power
She dances among the shadows now
A healer without a prayer
Healing others was easy
But now trying to heal herself she cannot do

She dances among the shadows now
She cries tears of blood
She screams words of rage and betrayal
She reaches forth for balance...and takes back only her nightmares

She dances among the shadows now
A witch without a hope
Of regaining what was taken from her

She cries among her nightmares now
Unable to escape them
Trying so hard to maintain her sanity

She rages among the daylight now
No one can seem to quell that wrath
Except the one who may not ever understand her
And who may leave all of them if they did...

And so she sees the darkness
As it seems to block everything else out
A vindictive darkness
That had offered to help her
One she had not expected
One from within her trusting heart
One she had welcomed in in light
Only to find it was she who was betrayed

A blackness so evil
That it grows day by day
Taking from her and leaving her empty
Trying to erase who she is
A darkness succeeding
In stealing her from her path
Uncaring that it kills her
To have stolen all she is
